A patent attorney, space lawyer, and Senior Attorney with Vela Wood, Steven Wood, also serves as Advisory Board Member for the Association for Commercial Space Professionals. He has expertise in space law, patents and IP protections and valuation, technology-centered partnerships, licensing, startups, entrepreneurship, technology commercialization, SBIRs/STTRs and OTAs, federally funded inventions, and Bayh-Dole. His legal practice focuses on investment due diligence, IP strategies, portfolio development, transactions, and provisional filings. Previously, Steven served as Senior Director of Neuromorphic Technology Development with the AFRL funded NeuroPipes neuromorphic computing research group at UAlbany CNSE. His prior positions include Adjunct Professor at Albany Law School, Patent Examiner at USPTO, and in tech transfer at Brookhaven National Lab, Leiden University, and The Research Foundation for SUNY. Steven also formerly served as Co-Founder of 'trakkies. International BV', incubated at ESA BIC Noordwijk, in The Netherlands, and in previous roles with XCOR Aerospace and various tech startups.
